Hey,

I should received W7 and the Intel X25-M S2 ssd today.

Do I need to do anything with it, other than install windows?

Do I need to install firmware or configure anything?

Thanks

Though....Before you install set SATA to AHCI and make sure the SSD is the primary boot drive or win7 will not install.

AHCI is a mode thar your sata ports should be capable of operating in.
It enables disks attached to these ports to utilise some of the nicer features; should be a setting in your bios that switches the sata ports modes.

FYI, in AHCI mode, you may need the F6 boot disk for drivers when loading W7... :)

hth :)

you may need the F6 boot disk for drivers when loading W7

Once AHCI or RAID is set(up) in BIOS(s) and the Win 7 install starts, the drivers will load automaticlly without doing anything (certainly for the Intel ICHx(R) controller) as Win 7 contains the drivers needed, once installed you can always update the controller drivers if you want, if you are using the Intel controller (or indeed any controller), make sure you install the latest Intel chipset drivers, as both RAID and AHCI require them or you otherwise will get freezing etc of system.

I just installed my Intel X25-M G2 lastnight with W7. Set Bios storage to AHCi and crossed fingers. All was fine with no additional drivers required.
