ATI drivers 10.2 were for some reason causing the delay in shutdown, im now on 10.1 and all is very nice.

I've been following this thread to see what the outcome was (I didn't have any suggestions so didn't post!) and I'm glad to see you got it sorted. I'm posting here because I too have had issues with the 10.2 drivers and my SSD surprisingly! When I used the 10.2 drivers with World of Warcraft on my SSD I would get terrible slowdowns every time it loaded a new zone, if I put WoW on my other HDD (500GB Hitachi, same SATA controller) it would work fine! I downgraded to 9.12 as that's what I had before I re-formatted and now everything runs great on the SSD. It was a very strange problem :p
