May order one today / tomorrow are they any good? will put windows 7 / adobe cs4 on there as well as maybe the odd program.

Write: Up to 35MB/sec :(

I guess with 40gb you will hardly be doing any writing anyway, so should be ok. but write speed is a lot better on 80gb and 160gb versions.

also, I think its nearly identical to the kingston v series 40gb.

That'll be a shame if they are, perhaps I should just grab a decent HDD and a nicely sized Corsair SSD instead?

no, the kingston are intel drives re-badged. and the intel ones have TRIM, kingston doesn't.

not true - the kingstons have trim assuming they have the lastest firmware version on them.

@ OP - mine has w7, office, CS4 and a few other apps. still got 13gb spare.

so what 40 - 80gb ssd would you guys recommend? that is under 200 quid? tho under £150 would be nice.

well, I put my money where my mouth is - intel x25-m 80gb. Slightly cheaper are crucial m225s which are quite good I think.

yeah, there is quite a big performance difference between drives from fresh, and then there is quite a big range of performance loss from continued use between trim or non trim drives, and when TRIM happens.

From what I understand, the intel's have very good read speed, average write speed. but their loss of performance on write speed is minimal, especially compared to most other drives.
