I was just checking out the differences between the GA-X38-DS4 and the GA-x38-DS5 on the gigabyte homepage in an attempt to find out why there were 2 similarly specced mobos with a £10 difference.
As it turns out the motherboard that is £10 cheaper ( the DS4 ) has full CrossfireX support. Which has really made my day, i know a few people here were unsure about any intel + crossfirex being available at the moment or in the future.
I has a DS5 in my recent spec and was worried about it not supporting the quad GPU set up i have planned ( 2x HD3870x2 ). But with this Motherboard also supporting true dual pci-e 2.0 slots, and being crossfirex certified, no worries.
Although i still cant figure out why its £10 cheaper, when the only differences i can spot between them, is that the cheaper one is crossfirex and the other is only crossfire.
Also note: the P45 that intel is touting as a winning combination for a pair of hd3870x2's only runs 8x/8x when in crossfire, so that 4x for each gpu right?
edit
actually its not available now, it will be in 2 days, how do you know im not from the future! AY!?
