intellipoint 3.0 problem

Bought this last week from OcUK, great mouse. But, when i shut down my system, the mouse stays live (the optical light stays on). This is with the intellipoint software installed and without it installed

Surely this is not meant to happen?

I cant compare to other optical mice as the is the first one i have ever owned (yeah i know)

Have you tried it in different USB ports? That can sometimes affect whether the mouse will stay on.

I have an old Intellipoint 2 that I use with my current rig, and it does the same, light stays on until the motherboard loses power, ie I switch it off at mains.

I always thought this was normal, it did the same with my old pc too.

i should have said that its using the ps2 connection and not via USB.

perhaps i answered my own question here, i will try it in a USB port instead

I've had a problem with one, where in games it just cuts out, and stops shooting also, the right click button goes off without clicking it. So i've sent it back.

Yup the light on mine stays on while connected to the computer even if it is shut down, switch if off at the back of the power supply to cut it out. It also doesnt happen if its connected via ps2 or whatever u call that input method. Is it really such a problem?

i connected it to a USB port instead of the ps2 connection, and the problem is sorted, thanks for all the input
