Intels top of the line mobile GPU, Arc A730M, shows up in 3D Mark database - beats RTX3070M

My understanding is that in-game performance is not as good as synthetic benchmarks because Intel are still struggling to get their drivers properly optimised and that this is the explanation for why they have not been able to release the cards in any meaningful way at a time when they would have been able to maximise sales and profits. From the synthetics it looks like the potential was definitely there but unfortunately for Intel it looks like by the time they have the drivers ready the cards will likely be irrelevant and any existing stock will have to be sold for a loss. Hopefully the first generation of cards will allow Intel to mature their drivers and take advantage of the inherent performance of their GPU design so that they can come back swinging with follow up releases as the extra competition and supply in GPU market will be really beneficial.

the game performance is all over the place from the leaks, the A730m smacks the 3060 in one game and then gets its ass handed by the 3060 to it in the next, all while beating the 3070 in synthetic benchmarks

Definitely driver issues

Can we have links to the leaks that show poor game performance compared to synthetic. Certainly sounds like they’re still getting the drivers sorted.

Not the video I was looking for but has the same info, basically Intels drivers are optimised for 3dMark with these optimisations not being applicable to most games, they are still working on gaming optimisations.

On the other hand, isn't the implication that the raw power is there once they actually sort out their drivers? It's a shame that they didn't work on this more before launch though.

Then again, even if we eventually see a desktop version that's only competing with a 3060/6650xt, it's still more competition in the market. Not going to be sad if there are soon 3 options for entry level gpus :)
