I was wondering if anyone had one of these... how is the input delay on it?

I have an Intensity Pro, which has next to zero input delay when playing games, but how about the shuttle? I know the USB3.0 version will have noticable input delay, as do all USB capture devices, but is the thunderbolt version the same?

I have the money to upgrade my motherboard to support thunderbolt, and I would like to upgrade to the thunderbolt shuttle, but it will only be of use to me if it has no input delay, like the intensity pro.

Main reason im looking at the shuttle, is for 480p support, and to use with my laptop (when I get it)

You say the shuttle-usb doesnt produce anymore lag than the shuttle-bolt or the pro. If I was to buy a USB 3.0 PCI-E card that is compatible with it (I know the shuttle-usb is very finicky about what USB3.0 chipsets it works with) would I be able to hook up my game consoles, and have the same lag free experience I get with the pro?

It would save me money and trouble, if the USB3.0 version worked just like the pro does, with the added benefit of 480p and laptop compatibility.

well the pro has the HDMI out to the TV, which is a direct passthrough anyway, it has no lag, but its connected to my TV which is at the other side of my room, and its a real pain in the arse, getting up and moving everytime I start streaming etc.
This is why I prefer to just use the capture cards display to play from.

Anyway, you mentioned x58, im guessing you looked at my system specs in my signature. Those are out of date, I have a Z77 board now with a 3570k :)

I've been reading that the shuttle-usb only works on NEC/renesas chipsets or something? Is this old news? Does it work on all ivybridge motherboards now or something?
 
I see, so its pretty much garuntee'd to work?

I get worried when I see people on forums etc, complaining that it simply doesnt work with their motherboard. Is it possible that these people are not using ivybridge CPU's, and that is the reason the shuttle doesnt work for them?
I'm guessing the sandybridge processors do not have native USB3.0?
 
probably wont be neccessary. I'll most likely order one, and if it doesn't work, ill just return it for a refund.
 
So I ordered the USB3.0 version, which should come tomorrow. Based on what you said, I would expect it to work, but im not expecting it to be a straight forward setup. Hopefully my experience with the Pro, will have prepared me for any problems i'll face, setting up the shuttle.

Shuttle came today, installed fine. No issues setting it up at all. Works perfectly. I feel sorry for all those people that had issues getting it working lol
