Well, After a lot of messing around, and thinking i'll be getting a AMD setup,
I changed my mind :D
Going for a Intel i7 setup. got £1100 to spend.
Already have a 620 PSU, which should be enough for an intel ?

What you think,? and is that ram i chose ok ? would it really make a huge difference compared to the Kingston 'HyperX' 3GB (3 X 1GB) 'Intel® XMP'
DDR3 2000MHz ?

I went for 3G of ram, as i only use Vista 32bit.

Cheers lads.
Last time honnest :p

P.s, err think this might been posted in the wrong part..

Nice build, but im not sure on the motherboard. Ive always been an ASUS fan when it comes to motherboards. You looked at any of those? I know there a bit more expensive but tend to be excellent. Whatever you decide. Enjoy. :)

With a 32Bit OS you can only index 4Gb of memory (that includes GFX mem as well). So you are only going to get about 1.9Gb of system RAM with a 32Bit OS if you go with an x2. If you have a legal copy of Vista 32 then you can get MS to send you the corresponding 64 Bit version for about £7.

So i'm better of getting 64 Bit version then :D
I take it this will fly with the 64bit version.
Would something like this be ok ? or will i need a different version.
It's only for games and internet really. i use vista buisness 32.
gues i best change then. never had 64bit os before ;)

Hi m8. Only difference between the one you selected and the palm edition is the small device that shows you temps, allows you to overclock and adjust setting through the device rather then going into the bios all the time. Good feature if your overclocking. Also allows you to display yahoo widgets you can download. :) £30 price difference but i like to have little gadgets :)

Sounds cool.
Can you just overclock using the program that it comes with ?
What Cpu heat sink u got mate. nice 3.9 :) i'm going to get vista64 bit now. not sure which i should go for, seeing as it's only for gaming and net.

Best advice I can give is to be very very careful when hadling anything near the CPU socket, inclusive of the CPU itself.

The pins are unbelievably fragile.. I bent them on my last board and nearly damaged this one too.

As long as your ports at the back of the motherboard are on the right then when u put the CPU in you should be able to read the details on the top..

Or, you could save yourself £7 and download an ISO of vista x64.

You should be able to find one around the MS website, though you can get it anywhere.

You pay for the license not the media/CD after all.

You must be REALLY heavy handed. I've built about 8 PCs where the pins are on the motherboard and I've never came close to damaging the pins.

That's 8 PCs and I occasionally remove everything from my current PCs for a clear out. :o

Thats a good price...what about hard disks, optical drive?

Im going with the rampage Asus the ROG version..looks the biz! you will also be missing out on Physx support as your going the ATI route..possibly consider the GTX 295...your 620W PSU should be good enough as long as it has stable rails..those I7s run hot and are power hungry!

Well you could get that version of vista, but if you have a proper copy already go here and get 64 bit for about £7 ;)

Hi,
I ordered the 64bit, but is it the full version, or an upgrade ?
Hope it's not the upgrade. as it will be the busines 64bit, that will be fine with gaming i take it ? i play games ok with vista32bit. :D
It only takes 4 to 8 days to arrive.
Thanks again for the link.

Hi mate,
What 6GB G-Skill DDR3 RAM 1066 do you have ? and how do you find them ?

Cheers.

I was being very very careful.. as I noted it from the RMA that was sent back.

It really concerned me that the pins were that fragile.. I've never seen anything like it and when I discussed it with my nerd mates they were all confused too.

Anyway.. lesson learned from me.. please dont make the same mistake as me.. I've spent £436 on motherboards in the last month..

Hehe, np. The version i got was the full version so i don't see why yours wouldn't be. Vista 64 is fine for gaming. I used to game on Vista 32 and i have seen no difference on 64, except more ram being visible and as such being able to multi task better ;)
