Interactive websites

For interactive sites, you'd need a scripting language of some sort (ASP, PHP, etc) and for this one in particular access to server-side components, GD, GDI+, etc...for manipulating the images.

This answer's vagueness matches that of the question.

Cheers for the answer, the op is vague, because i have no idea what i'm talking about. So just trying to find some info for a colleague who is looking to have a website similar to that one. But you have given me a very basic understading of whats required - cheers!

also have a look in to ajax which might improve some of the interaction and make it more responsive.

I wont be attempting this myself - it's one of those things, people find out you have an interest in something and then you get bombarded with questions - i'll be advising to get someone pro to do it!
