Hey guys my gf and I are interested in getting this router from OcUK for our house but we arent sure about some things could you please advise us?
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-143-NG
1. Our house is small - is an "N" router overkill? Should we get a "G" one?
2. She watches a lot of catchup TV (BBC iPlayer, Channel 4 etc) and I get massive flight-simulator downloads (freeware addons) all running at the same time (using Free Download Manager). Keeping this kind of heavy simultaneous use in mind does it make sense to get this one anyways specially since it says "Steady-Stream of up to 300 Mbps"
3. The wireless signal from this powerful router will no doubt go well beyond our walls and be picked up in quite a wide circle around our house - is it possible on this kind of router to reduce the transmission power so the "wireless bubble" is kinda kept to a minmum (as much as possible within our home) Is there a slider control for broadcast power or something?
4. Finally will this "N" router REALLY make a difference to us? We only have a pathetic 1.5mbit broadband connection - if we are lucky. So does the rating of the router really make a difference. Is it worth getting an "N" if we REALLY have a fast connection (8mbit etc).
its at a great price so we are very tempted but I thought Id like to ask the forums opinion on these questions before getting the credit card out...
Thanks guys
