Interested in Ultrawide monitor

Hi all looking at getting an Ultrawide monitor in the near future. I currently have 2 27" 1440p 240hz monitors and would ideally look to replace them with one large panel.

The super Ultrawide monitors are effectively 2 1440p monitors side by side so I'm very interested in those I.e. Samsung Neo G9 etc.

Just wondered if any of you guys have any experience with these kind of displays and what to expect, my PC is a 7950x/4090 build so hopefully should have enough horsepower to drive it.

Also wondered how the Ultrawides perform when using the display in a standard 2560x1440 resolution for playing competitive shooters etc, is it possible to have the game playing in the centre of the monitor for example while still getting the full 240hz refresh rate.

Thanks guys, hope you can give me some pointers

Your 4090 should have enough grunt to power it easily.

As for the screen centering when not using a UW resolution, I can't say for all monitors, but some displays (like the Dell Alienware AW4323DWF and the Samsung Neo G9 you have listed), have an option that stretches content to the full 3440x1440 resolution and other options that just leave content be without resizing it (at 2560x1440 by leaving it on Auto, instead of filling out to a particular resolution), so it will become centered in the screen with black bars around it on either side. So just make sure whatever monitor you grab has this option available and you'll be fine.

As for the refresh rate, so long as the chosen monitor screen is able to display that refresh rate (240hz), whether centered in your screen or stretched out to fill an UW resolution, it should be able to handle the refresh rate with that GPU powering it.

Yeah that sounds great, for single player games, racers etc of course I'd use the entire display but it'd be great to have the option to switch to a standard 16:9 resolution with black bars either side for the odd competitive fps game etc.
Really appreciate your help, guess it's time to start some more research, definitely leaning towards the Samsung g9 but will check out some reviews etc first.

Thanks again for your time

No issues here with a 1440P ultrawide on a 5800X and 6700XT. Handles everything I throw at it with ease on high/ultra settings. A 4090 will have no problem.

I went from 3 1080P screens to a single ultrawide and the seamless desktop space is just so much nicer to use. It's all in my direct line of vision as well so no more having to turn my head to look at another screen off to the side.

Getting things to display in 16:9 on my screen (Iiyama GB3461) has been no issue either, as mentioned check if the monitor has the ability to disable the stretch/fit to screen mode. This will allow you to run with black bars either side.

The only other thing I would say is to decide on whether you want a flat or a curved screen. On very very rare occasions I have to lean over a little to clearly see text at the very extremities of the scren. It's not that you can't read it, it just looks a little odd being offset from the main viewing angle.

Other than that though, no complaints!

edit... I just looked up the Neo G9 and realised it's quite a bit wider than the 3440x1440 of my monitor. Sorry, I thought the ultrawide resolution was a standard. Given I have no performance complaints at 3440 on a 6700, I still highly doubt a 4090 would struggle with the G9's resolution.

Yeah it's 5120x1440 I believe, but hopefully the 4090 can keep up. Great to know games can be played in a 16:9 resolution with black sections either side as that was my main concern for a couple of competitive FPS games I usually play.
As for the curve, it's probably something you get used to over time. Thanks again for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it.

It's a big outlay at over £1500 so wanted to make sure it's right for me before purchasing, if only there was a try before you buy option with these things lol

3840x2160 (4k) resolution has a higher pixel count than 5120x1440 so whatever reviews you see, if it runs at 4K then the numbers will be slightly better than that

There is. The Forest offers a free trial on that monitor. You only pay if you want to keep it. You don't even pay for delivery. Worth getting, even if you just send it back.
