I've got an abit IP35, which has a few strange anomolies, which seem to be getting worse by the day:-

When you turn the machine on, it appears to start, powers down totally and restarts again (usually normally) -you get no VDU out but during this process?

Yesterday, when I turn the machine on I got a 'CPU has changed - Check Softmenu' error, which required going into BIOS and loading defaults, and now it all works fine again.

I've installed the latest BIOS...any other thoughts?

Cheers

the powering down thing after turning it on is something i get and have had since day 1 so i thought this was normal for this mobo tbh...

it's normal on a P35 chipset mobo on first boot if you had totally removed power (incl standby power) from the mobo .

The "CPU is unworkable or has changed" message is normal after a CMOS clear which is part of a BIOS update.

Ive just built a system using the abit ip35, and if you update the bios to the latest 1, the booting issue will be fixed plus a few other bugs I came across is fixed with the latest update.
