The team remains cagey when discussing Crysis all important hardware requirements, largely because its not the only one deciding them...
"For DX10 its too early because the drivers we have are still in beta", explains Diemer.
"But our standard machine is pretty much what it says Vista requires, which is dual core, a DX10 card - just one 8800 in our demo machines, and 2gigs of RAM. As for optimising downwards the rule of thumb we tell the R&D guys is high spec Far Cry equals low spec Crysis"
Yerli agrees, but theres a mischeivious old glint in his eye.
"No matter what PC you have, we'll bring you down."
"If you have SLi DX10 cards and 4 gigs of RAM, we'll bring you down; not because we want to do that but because we want to invest in the future. [Laughs] Actually if you have SLi DX10 it will be very hard to bring it down but there are profiles which we're not exposing through the outer config which would otherwise make the high-end systems run like mediums. Users would say "What the ****? I've bought a new PC for this?" So two years later you'll be able to reinstall Crysis and it'll look better"

From EDGE magazine by the way, just typed it out so cant link it to you.

But that sounds interesting, stuff thats too demanding to run now so it will still look great in a couple of years, thats a damn good idea. But I bet its gonna push a few peoples buttons and cause an uproar

I suggest anyone interested in the game picks up EDGE as its got a massive article on it which really does explain some cool stuff, particularly multiplayer

dont quite understand above post, you mean its HIGHEST settings etc are too demanding for current systems to run really? basically with 2gb of ram, dual core and an 8800 its not like its gunna look shabby on a system of that spec

Its not difficult to understand O_o

Basically saying that there is stuff within the game that might be too stressful on todays machines, but in a couple of years you'll be able to turn those things on. So basically saying that the game wont still look that bad in a few years time

If you read the whole article you'll know more about what I'm saying, but that 1 paragraph summed up a large part of it
