Interesting Issues...

Ok So....

I can access the net by connecting directly to the modem via an ethernet cable.
I cannot access through the router. I have also tried a 2nd router and get the same issue. I then changed the cable from the modem to the router. Still the same issue.

What am I missing here?!

Are you talking about cable broadband and a cable modem? I had this issue setting up my brother's network - you have to unplug everything, turn on the cable modem, then the router, then the PC and cross your fingers. If you turn them on the other way around the modem fails to recognise the router. Sounds stupid, but that's what tech support told me and it worked. Give it a go If it still doesn't work after all that restart the modem again and pray lol

This is sorted now...I wasn't letting the router set up before power-cycling the modem
