Interesting start to my holiday!

Well, I've just got back from a week in Newquay and thought I would share the journey down with you guys as it was a bit exciting!

Basically I was driving from Southampton to Newquay and had just got on the A303 past Salisbury, nice wide duel carrigeway with not much traffic so I was just happily sitting at 70mph.

Then I come over the top of a long hill and the bonnet of the car flys up and smashes straight into the windscreen! It didn't break luckily but I obviously couldn't see anything! I managed to stop ok and pull over onto the rather small hardshoulder but man it was the scariest thing thats ever happened to me!

The garage have said that the bracket thing that holds the bonnet down was loose and was ripped off, which shouldn't have happened considering it was an 04 plate Citroen C3! here are the pics!

erm, thats pretty bad considering the age of the car, in fact its scary. I would pop along to your Cit garage and ask them what the hell happened :/ Sorry about Newquay too, would have been pap with the weather we have been having :p

Well we think it may be the repairers fault because someone pulled out into my dad on the motorway (she pannicked and he was just in her blind spot), damaged the car quite badly so we where wondering if they might not have done the screws up properly. If its citreons fault we won't be buying another!
 
that should not happen to any car, let alone a 2 year old one, i'd kick off with the dealer personally, maybe threaten to go to the papers, i'm sure Citroen wouldn't want it well known that their bonnets fly up at 70mph. I'm sure you'll come to some agreement :D

And me in a Mk1 Escort, just got into 3rd booting it up through the box when the whole world went Red :eek: (car was red)
I think i may have dived into the floorwell as i stopped it :p
Glad you stopped it ok and was able to get back.
