This made me chuckle a bit.

Everton's new goalkeeper shirt looks set to give Tim Howard a real boost for the 2011/12 Premier League season - he's going to pop up out of nowhere to smother anything the strikers can throw at him with his special 'camouflage' kit.

Also didn't know about Cech requesting an orange kit to make him appear bigger when rushing out.
Do you think there is anything in this?

Any weird kits you remember?

That shirt is a joke! If the united players couldnt see eeach other back in 96 with the grey kit then how will anyone see the Everton goalkeeper.....then again do we want to see him? :P

Mexico 94 was a dodgy shirt...

I just laughed a bit at the line "he's going to pop up out of nowhere".

I just imagine him lying in the penalty area thinking he's camouflaged and nobody can see him and then jumping up and trying to suprise the striker.:D

Here is his home kit-

Speaking as a graphic designer, I've long been amazed that I haven't seen more keepers in orange and other fluorescent, high-vis colours.

If you look at non-fluorescent kits, the shadows cast around the edges can give the illusion of slimming/shrinking the wearer - the shadows are tonally more similar to whatever's behind.

But with fluorescence, under the same lighting conditions the shadows aren't as pronounced. So in effect the wearer will seem bigger [or to put it another way, opponents will 'see' a bigger block of eye-catching solid colour rushing towards them].

It's not just this 'embiggening' effect from direct sight; fluorescent colours are more prominent in peripheral vision. So not only is there a constant reminder to opponents that there's someone between them and the goal, but it can also help out the back line's awareness of the keeper's position.

That's my theory, anyway :p :)

I would say "let's see how many goals Everton let in this season", but there are so many more factors than this :D
