Interferance with new pc

Recently put together a pc but still using the old case, dvdrom's etc, so the new bits are mobo cpu & ram & power supply, but now i have interferance coming thro my speakers which wasnt there before (but not if using optical).
Im using onboard Realtek sound as was on the last mobo.
The power supply was a 650w cheapish one, is it possible that it could be causing the interferance? If it is would i be able to RMA it for that reason? thx

Check your volume levels, you may be able to eradicate the interference with some tinkering.

Namely, make sure non of the volume controls, particularly Wave are at max.

Ideally, you want to place them all mid way or low, and leave the amplification to the speakers.
