Hi, i recently got my ISP to take interleaving off my line, which they say they have done however on my router stats it says my line is still interleaved

Connection Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 1023
Ds Rate (Kbps) 11496
US Margin 12
DS Margin 3
Trained Modulation ADSL2Plus
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 30
US Line Attenuation 18
Peak Cell Rate 2412 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 58
CRC Tx Fast 0
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 0
Path Mode Interleaved

They insist its turned off at their end, and theres no options on my router to change it, so has it actually been turned off?

Router is some eTec thing

I see, but theres nowhere in any options to change this, and both CRC Rx Interleaved and Tx Interleaved are reading 0, is this any indication to go by?

There won't be an option because it's set by your ISP. Those two numbers being zero means nothing other than there were no CRC errors.
If you really want to be sure, try another router.

Yeah ive rebooted it. I changed routers too from the eTec thing to a Thompson 585 v7 but it doesnt say if the lines interleaved or not.
The connection did restart about 20 minutes after asking them to take it off (ISP is Karoo) and theyre adament its off at their end, just slightly annoying i cant seem to change it at mine

If your interleaved error count stays at zero forever then you're probably not on interleaved (or have an amazing line, unlikely if it's stuck at those speeds).

The 585 should tell you, though I have no idea whether it does through the web interface. You might have to telnet into it.

This is what i was thinking, i know next to nothing about these kinda things though so i thought id ask:p

Is interleaving essentially time divison multiplexing or some sorts to boost bandwidth?

I've heard it affects pings? Why is that?
