Interleaving?

Its a process used by BT to stabilize your line, usually allowing a higher sync speed but also making your latency around 20ms higher.

So if your a gamer you want it turned off to keep low pings in game servers but if you don't play any games then its worth having enabled as it can allow a faster download speeds.

If you want it disabled on your line just ring your ISP and they can usually do it free of charge within 24 hours.

In basic terms it makes lines more stable at the expense of a bit of latency (i.e. your pings may go from 10-20ms to 30-40ms)

LOL thanks for the responses guys. My css ping has risen from 12ish up to about 30 and it really sucks. I'll get onto them tommorow about it.

I had this turned off for exactly the reasons stated above.....My line then sucked big time. Re sync constantly and simple processes like Ebay wouldnt work......Also, BT kept telling me it was already off and it wasnt......big pain in the bum...

It is now back on and I am happy..........try it by all means but expect problems
 
I understand that they can lower ** line speed as well as turning it off and that lowering the line speed will help with the bad blocks.
Is this the case?

My sync speed dropped from 7616 to under one meg when i turned it off. My line could not handle it..............hence turning it back on

Your line might be better so give it a go. All id say is it is on because there was a fault. you might need to turn it back on and it took a few months before I got back to where I was.
 
mmm thats well drastic down to 1 meg, obv that would be awful, but the latency is def screwing up my gaming.
Oh well I can but try, I'd happily lose a couple of meg but down to one would be dreadful.

I wouldn't be worrying about 30ms
 
It shoots up moreso when there is a lot of action, its very unstable so therefore effecting my game. Too many people firing a few guns, one nade goes off and lag spike. It sucks.

Ive had interleaving enabled before, unfortunatly my ISP was eclipse at the time and they took ages to get it removed. Idiots.

Hopefully your ISP is more helpfull than they were.....
 
Hmm not with eclipse, using aquiss atm. Anyone had anyexperience with their customer service, I havent really had call to speak to them.

Strangely enough that is who i am now with and so far have found them very easy to get hold of, and always get done what they say they are going to. Thumbs up from me.
