Anyone know what this is and does for a internet connection?

Its the only reason I'm holding off transferring from enta.

Managing now to get a whole 70kbs on a 8mb line.

Interleaving re-arranges data packets to reduce data loss. The downside is that latency can be increased, but it can be very useful for improving stability.

There is a good article here.

Your poor connection speed will not be related to interleaving, please post your stats.

Connection Speed DWN 8128 kbps UP 448 kbps

Line Attenuation DWN 11.0 db UP 8.0 db

Noise Margin DWN 8.5 db UP 23.0 db

Connected to a extension, not the master and i'm within 500 meters of the exchange.

No sorry i wasnt quite clear.

When i download things via HTTP/FTP/Usenet i get speeds normally around 600-800kbs, but recently during the day and night especially night, i've been getting 70-100kbs download speeds.

That's from Traffic Shaping not Interleaving

No it isn't - Enta do not traffic shape their customers connections AFAIK.

It is the fact they are having some issues with the new IPSC platform.

Plenty of information about this if you search or read on http://noc.enta.net a few posts down.

They have been quite open about it (as always) and said that things will hopefully be sorted out and improve over the next few days.
