Hey guys,
I had 2 dell 2001FP's which after about 34 months, both went faulty with the same problem at the same time (vertical banding on highlights)
Dell replaced them under the 3 year warranty with 2x 2007FP's, which were working fine, i have one connected via dvi and one connected to my gf's pc via vga. Fast forward 3 months or so to now and me wanting to connect via DVI, the 2nd monitor is being VERY strange
First plugged it into my new laptop via a HDMI > DVI lead, and it worked fine, for a couple of times....then, after a reboot the monitor went straight into powersave mode (even on post). It worked again about 6 reboots later, but then stopped again :| Plugged the laptop into my other monitor and it works 100% of the time. At one point when it wasnt working with the laptop, i plugged it into MY pc via dvi, worked fine, back into the laptop, powersave, back into the pc fine back into the laptop powersave etc, but after a reboot of the pc it wont work with either now.
After a quick google it appears it may possibly be something to do with the monitor's EDID being a bit wonky and feeding windows the wrong data? How does one go about fixing this? I'm totally baffled by it, and the warranty is now up from dell :|
Any ideas guys?
Thanks!
Tom.
