hi,

sometimes when i boot my system the bios seems to freeze on post. at the point when it says detecting ide drives, it stops before detecting the 2 sata hdd's and doesn't go any further.

if i reboot it will do it fine.

i've never seen this before. anybody know what could cause this.

Cheers

Plextor PX-716SA 16x dual layer

I had a similar problem, I have to have the plextor on SATA 1 otherwise it hangs at boot. Not really a problem for me tho as my HDD is IDE.

You could always try the latest BIOS.

well the problem has not recurred since, and i've restarted the machine loads of times, but it was an intermittent problem.

i did have a pretty new bios that was meant to include a sata drive fix, but i now have an even newer one that is also meant to have a sata drive fix.

i'd guess the problem is now fixed (fingers crossed).
