Hi all,

I've had Windows 7 on since it's lauch day and its been superb until two weeks ago I started having problems with my internet connection. I have 20mb Virgin Media broadband and one minute my connection is fine and then if I've rebooted my PC or turned it on I have no connection at all. The modem is fine so I know it has to be something on my PC thats causing it. The only way I seem to be able to get my internet back on is if I reboot it or uninstall the Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller and reboot. When my net does go down I noticed in the control panel, network status and task section it says unidentified public network. What does this mean?

Could a virus be causing it? I have Microsoft Security essentials install and it's up to date.

Hope someone can shed some light on the matter as it's driving me mad. Never had a problem like this.

Sounds like an ethernet driver issue.

Go to the manufacturer's website and see if there is a newer version. If not, try rolling back to a previous version.

Tried putting the on the one I got from ASUS site and its still the same. I then updated the driver through windows and again it still does the same. When I try to load a page I see a quick error sign saying dns error. If I disable the driver in device manager then re-enable it, my net comes straight back on. It's almost like its losing some sort of setting when I reboot.

It's really odd.

I think I know what it is. Adobe CS3. I started having problems with net around 2 weeks ago, which was the same time I put CS3 on.

I'll uninstall it and see how I get on.

Sorted. It was CS3 that was causing the issue. Uninstalled it and now net is fine.
