I've changed from a wired to a wireless connection using a cheap sweex usb adapter 54Mbps I found laying around, which is giving me intermittent lag spikes every 15 or so seconds when playing online. If I go back to wired its fine so I guess its something to do with my set up.

Any suggestions?

I have BT infinity btw.

I thought that might be the problem.

Would something like this give me the same problem... TP-Link TL-WN781ND 150Mbps Wireless PCI Express Adapter?

It's hard to say, IIRC TP-Link is one of 'those' makes. You might get it and be pleasantly surprised, but on the other hand it might be terrible.

is this on a desktop pc? if so and you want consistent reliable performance consider homeplug.

Sorry for the late reply...

Yes it is. I think I have some of these in the loft I got with a router years ago. I will check if they're any good.

Are there any you could also suggest?! Not really looking to spend that much £££.

Thanks

Another quick question

When I do a speed test I get this...

The download speed seems a bit odd? When its running the speed will remain around 10-30Mb/s but in last second shoots up to around 150Mb/s.

Any reason for this? My upload and ping seem fine.
