Intermittent latency with sky

So here is a wierd problem I've been having for a few weeks now. I'm on sky unbundled DSL ~18Mbit/s

My latency will rocket up from ~25-40ms to 500-700ms randomly in the evenings for a period of between 5 and 10 minutes. To try and get to the bottom of it I've looked into these things:

1. Its not wifi, im using a wired connection direct to router.
2. The time it happens is random but after 9pm always.
3. I installed TCP Viewer to see what was being sent/received, nothing unusual on my PC
4. I disconnected every other device from the network.
5. Line is solid as a rock, I'm ~1km from my exchange, it never drops, only latency spikes.

At 9:56 PM it was this

Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [212.58.244.23]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms SkyRouter.Home [192.168.0.1]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 506 ms 353 ms 313 ms be390.pr3.bllon.isp.sky.com [89.200.132.223]

Any ideas ? What else can I try?

Sky just run a line test and tell me its working. They have finally agreed to raise it to their network team if it still happens in a day or two but its every night and its wrecking my Overwatch games!

Thanks, I have no idea how to set my sky hub to respond to ICMP requests though, its just showing 100% loss at the moment

Can't get that working, router seems set up correctly and their traceroute tool works fine

edit again : working now, I have an IPv6 IP but it cant accept incoming, IPv4 works fine, so monitoring now!

Sky technical support, absolutely useless. I have completely rules out anything on my side of the router and they basically said, speed is guaranteed, latency isnt. And they wont investigate further.

So I'll be switching providers as soon as my contract is up.

ill set another up now, i just deleted them as sky didn't care what I told them. Plus hey started a retrain on my line which i asked them NOT to do and it kept changing my IP address

I am 95% sure it is a problem at the exchange, either with sky kit or the connection to the BT back haul. Probably congestion but like I said, they couldn't give a rats ass, line is fine and most people wouldnt even notice the latency so meh

there you go, you can clearly see it happen at about 11pm

And about 0130? I was in bed asleep, I disabled the WiFi before I went to bed and there were no wired devices connected. So definitely not an issue with any of my kit
