Hi

When gaming I occasionally get a 'No Signal' message flash up for a few seconds before returning me to the game I am playing, it then inevitably keeps repeating every 10 seconds or so. Generally a reset removes the problem for a while.

My perception is this only happens after the PC has been running for a while - for example if I have left it on through the day from the previous evening and then choose to game after work.

My PC doesn't get over 68 in temp - even when playing top end, with ultra graphics or when bitcoin mining.

Spec of my machine below - I have 2 Acer Predator monitors both connected DP to DP into the graphics card - when the no signal occurs it is only on the monitor with may game on - the otherone just carries on as normal - even if it is running Netflix etc.

I have uninstalled / reinstalled drivers.
I have changed to new cables

If you have any thoughts I would be pleased to hear them - PC is less than a year old

try a different screen I've seen that happen before then wired it to a tv and worked perfectly.

It happens the same if I switch the 2 monitors around - the problem just transfers to the other monitor.
This is the same if I switch the ports as well or just adjust the display position of the monitors leaving them in the same ports.

I have been unable to find anyone online having issues with Acer Predator monitors - so I'm unsure if it is an issue with them.

Are they high refresh rate monitors and running gsync or free sync ?

sometimes when the refresh rate is set high and the gpu bounces a signal just beyond the sync range the monitor will consider that an out of range signal, go blank screen and try and reacquire the signal again…. Similar to when you first turn on the monitor and it’s a few seconds to find the display signal from the computer. It can also go through this process when it goes out with the bounds of the freesync range, and the monitor takes a moment to change between freesync mode and non-freesync mode.

this can happen at both the high end of the sync range and the low end.

One solution is to set a custom refresh rates ( and/or free sync range ) that is slightly within the bounds of he min/max possible.

For example I was getting issues with a 144hz monitor (with a freesync range of say 45-144hz) in gaming like you describe. By setting a custom display refresh rate 143hz and the free sync range to a min of 60 and max of 140hz , the blank screens went away.

This was because even if the pc sent a signal that was slightly out of the set spec, it was still the overall range of the monitor.

as above something is trying to run your monitor out of spec most likely.

to high res, too high refresh rate or whatever.

did you change any settings recently? is it only happening for a specific game?
reinstall your graphics drivers and reset the settings for them and don't change anything see if it still happens
