I'm trying to find a simple minimal door latch for internal French doors which I imagine to be something like this.

However I can't find anything close at all. In fact the only latches that can open from both sides seem to be wrought iron ones designed for outdoor gates.

My idea is something as basic as this:

Does anything like this exist and if so what search terms should I be looking for?

Ahh i see now
2 doors hinged then, usually 1 door has bolts top and bottom and the second door will have a bog standard latch
You picture looks like a hook and staple. That what you are thinking of?

Neither has bolts, both are hinged (and prefer to keep hinged rather than fixed). Yes like a hook and staple but moveable from both sides and obviously a bit more suitable in aesthetics for an interior door.

It doesn't need a staple to latch into just something to rest on as the hook part will keep the door from opening.

There are lots of `cupboard` catches similar but they are single side only
What about a magnetic catch on the top of both doors?
or maybe a ball catch drilled into the top of the doors?
another option is a `Perko`closer but they are a pain to install
