Internal Graphics don't work with HD 7850 installed

I decided to give lucid virtu mvp a go today, I went into the bios, turned the internal graphics on, set it to auto detect which graphics to use, saved, turned off, plugged my monitor into the on board dvi, turned it on and nothing!

Swapped the monitor back into the hd 7850, restarted and it was back on, checked the bios, my settings had saved, tried changing to use internal graphics first, saved, turned off, plugged monitor into onboard dvi, turned on and still nothing!

The monitor only works in the hd 7850, the internal graphics don't show up in device manager no matter what settings I use, lucid virtu mvp won't install because it says no onboard graphics detected.

It was working perfectly for months before I bought a separate graphics card.

Spec is, ga-z77-d3h (19g bios), i5 3570k, sapphire hd 7850 2gb oc edition.

Any ideas?

tbh, I would expect a motherboard to force the graphics cards to to override the onboard always. Why would you want to have a card installed, but use the on-board? If it's due to noise, then even if this was possible, the card would still be 'live' and the fans spin up.

edit: looks like i skipped the lucid virtu mvp part. I don't really know what this is but seems that's the relevant part.

Yes with lucid virtu you can run both IGPU and GPU side by side.

I suppose it might be down to the beta bios I'm using now, I was using the previous version when I first fitted the hd 7850 and I was getting the opposite results when I fitted the card, it would only use the card if I set the internal graphics to disabled, but now it won't use the internal graphics at all!

I could try removing the card altogether and see if it will use the internal graphics, then once it's working, add the card again, but it seems like too much hassle, I've been to work all day! Maybe try it at the weekend.

VirtueMVP is a good idea but very much like CF and broken. It gives very stuttery frames (or did when I tried it just over a year ago). Frame returns were excellent but it just never felt smooth at all. After getting rid, it was back to silk again :)

I would avoid for now and just keep an eye on forums for fixes to the smoothness.

I'd read that it improves gta4, which was the only real reason I wanted to give it a go. I'll leave it for now, I'm happy with the quality of everything else I'm playing at the minute!
