Someone said to me today, "wouldn't pc cases look better without the 5.25 bays" and I think they would. So that got me thinking, would this case look better without a dvd drive installed, as I could buy a external when I do my build in a few weeks

I think that case would look good without an internal drive, I know a lot of folk don't use drives anymore and only plug in the external when installing windows and so on

Whatever floats your boat really :D

Like you say after windows gets installed I dont really use my drive either. But how reliable are externals, as Im looking at this one?

Couldn't you just buy a normal dvd drive and buy an external caddy for it?

if you done that it would mean you could buy any drive you want and it would make it easier if you have a specific drive you use 24/7, for instance I only use a specific pioneer drive now and wont go elsewhere so I could throw it in a caddy if I wanted , that way I know what im gettin

Ummm, yeah thats another way, more time consuming tho, as you dont need to plug it in to the caddy and then into the mains with a external one.

Much larger though.

I have a samsung DVD-RW external which is about 2 thicknesses of a cd case and only very slightly larger! Server does not need one, neither does my other PC apart from installs.

On that case id definitely go for an external drive, keep the nice clean look. My own lian li is kinda spoiled with the blu ray drive and fan controller fitted in it. I could go to an external drive, but id still be stuck with the fan controller, (6 case fans).
