Hi,

I only have 2x USB2 internal headers. What is the best way to get more available? Or should I just use a normal USB cable and run it out to the back of the PC?

Thanks

I only have 2 on my PC and I need 1 for the case and 1 for my HUE+. I was going to buy the Corsair LL120 fans but that requires another internal usb port. I know you can get the NZXT extension for £18 but I just thought there might have been an alternative like running the cable to the back of the PC..

You can, look for "usb a to internal header" or male header. It might be a bit messy when there are better solutions though. For instance, does the HUE+ use one header, or one port? If the plug only has 4 wires going into it, it's just one port. Same for the LL120s.

Just checked, both the HUE+ and the LL120 controller use a single USB port/plug. So a little crafty wire swapping, or two jumper cables will do you just fine :)

Either you can use a pin or small screwdriver to pop out wires from one of the usb header cables, and insert them into the other, or the jumper/extension leads. If you swap cables take photos first and get the order right - colour coding should be the same on both I expect.

Extension cables - you want two of these, the socketed end goes on the mobo header and splits the usb header into two cables. Then the pin ends go into your two USB plugs:
