International mobile data use

One of the users I support travels internationally quite a lot. We have a corporate mobile agreement with Alternative Networks who resell us O2 contracts. Now this guy is in Hong Kong at the moment and he had to manually roam through 3 networks until he could find one that allowed outgoing voice calls. For some reason his imate KJam automatically connected to CSL which wouldn't work at all.

He also needs a data connection via gprs/3g for his activesync emails from our server. Another problem as most networks don't seem to offer this?

So, my long-winded question is: what is the optimum network setup (orange, o2, vodafone, etc.) for a businessman who needs data in asia, australasia, uk, everywhere in fact!

Advice appreciated..can you tell i've just had a long support call

I have currently implemented two blackberry devices for my CEO's email (on O2)

Working like a dream both in the UK and the US...due to do more travelling in the next couple of months :)

i'd say vodafone as they have gprs/3g agreements in a lot of countries around the world...especially where there is a vodafone network.

Ok thanks, Blackberry is a no no company wide as we would need to install the server on our network. US seems ok recently, guess its just Asia that's problematic. Will look into Vodafone, thanks.

Blackberry is a no no

blackberry and Vodafone business email do support push email by forwarding what you recieve so no need to install stuff on the exchange server, however you would need to be able to access your email via pop3 etc, i think VBE is a lot more flexible in this aspect.

Well we already have push support with the latest rom flashes for imate devices running windows mobile 5.0. Its not really needed as devices can still check for updates every 15 mins or whatever. I guess its more of an international networking issue - we're just looking for whose got the most gprs/3g agreements abroad.

I right ok...I think you'll be looking at Vodafone then. Have a look on the voda website, should list all countries with agreements.
