Internet access in XP

I ran the network connection setup wizard after reinstalling Windows XP. I tried using my internet browser, but it cannot find any servers.

When I type ipconfig in command prompt, it says nothing about IP addresses, network adapters or anything like that, there is a single line saying "Windows IP configuration".

I have not touched the connections of my network since the reinstall, and it was working fine before then. My computer is connected to a router (which is connected to 2 other computers) which is connected to my modem.

How would I go about setting up my internet connection?

TIA :)

Like Clarkey says if your not getting any ipconfig details then it's not finding any network cards. You do have them installed and have TCP/IP assigned to them right?

Here is a screenshot of the drivers. They appear to be installed. :/
Errr... No, they don't. That shows your Firewire card's installed nicely though!

I'll bet one of the three devices without drivers I can see behind is your network card.

One of those must be your network card. You need to find or download and install the drivers, and it can't work before you do that.

Drivers are now installed.

That was the first time I'd installed Windows in my life, and I just expected them to be installed and work automatically (funny, Linux is ready for internet usage straight after install).

I just installed my chipset drivers, and now it works. :)

Thanks guys.

But if a driver wasn't automatically detected and installed in Linux, you'd have a hell of a job trying to make it work, I'll bet!

Glad you sorted it.
