Internet Access running Slooooooow

Hey everyone,

So I got to work today and found out that our internet is running so very very slow. It has been tasked to me to sort it. I need help though as I cannot seem to find out what the problem is, I have narrowed it down to being router based (having carried out line checks and speed checks with our ISP, ZEN Internet) We are getting 6mb bandwidth of the 7mb available in our area. Traditionally the connection is always rather good but it is running so slow today.

I have of course checked to see what people are doing, no one seems to be streaming Youtube or anything and we do not anything like download tools (torrents) or Instand Messangers.

The router we use is a Draytek Vigor 2820n. I was wondering if perhaps people had experienced something similair and could offer suggestions or elements of the router that I could be checking that may effect the speed.

P.S. All settings are as they should be in terms of ISP connection, DNS servers etc etc.
 
get your laptop or a machine you know for sure does not have a virus, disconnect every computer from the router - unplug the cables, see if its faster..

that will tell you if you have a rogue lime wire / virus / other odd issue or an internet.

also log into the router see if it will tell you any stats on line errors etc
