Internet and moving house

As we are currently house hunting and intend to keep our current rented house for a month or so once we have the new place, is it possible to have the connection transferred over on a certain date with no loss of service? We are currently with Plusnet fibre. Obviously we would need to get the phone line up and running at the new place first.

Hah! Not a chance! =)

They will cut off your existing service 5 minutes after you hang up from the call arranging the move. And then there will be all manner of problems at the new place, meaning you will be without Internet for weeks.

This happened to me (with BT, but assume they are all the same, as they depend on OpenReach).
