Internet Cafe Software

Hi

A customer of mine is looking at opening a bar (of which he hopes will turn into a chain) and he'd like to offer a free WiFi facility although for obvious reasons he doesn't want people just wandering off of the street and abusing the free service

Unlike an Internet Cafe though where you can install software onto the client PC's which would limit the amount of internet access you have this obviously isn't feesable when customers will be using their own laptops so we're after a solution that could be run from a server which along with limiting Internet access to say 1-2 hours also ideally creates dynamic pass-phrases

Any suggestions?

I've never used it before, but stumbled upon this link:-

If you have the DD-WRT firmware available for your router, you can set up a WiFi hotspot with that.

Zyxel do a router/wifi AP & thermal printer combo that will do this, no idea on the cost but looked at a trial unit about 12-14 months ago. Did exactly what your looking for, I think this was it (link to manufactures website) G-4100 v2

you can use mon0wall. it has captive portal and voucher support which works great.

also you can use http://www.caferadius.com/ which is also another alternative.
