I really don't keep up to date when it comes to TVs so forgive my ignorance on the subject, but what sort of options are there available for low budget TVs that are internet capable?

By internet capable, I mean it would be nice if when I get a replacement TV for my room have it capable to browse youtube, websites, maybe media hosted on my LAN etc... Is this sort of thing possible within a TV or is the only solution still a TV and a HTPC of some sort? and is this viable at all on a low budget (it's just to replace my really old CRT tv in my room which I don't use too much)?

I'd say samsung are leading the way with internet enabled features via their Smart Hub software on their tv's. Capable of web browsing/youtube/net streaming/ media streaming. Panasonic's internet enabled features are quite good too. Sony offer internet services too but personally I've found samsung's to be the best. I think any tv from samsung of 2011 onwards that is internet enabled has access to all these features, however I think the lower end ones would need a wi-fi dongle if you want to go wireless otherwise ethernet cable into the back of the TV :)

What sort of budget are you looking on?

I was look at around <£250 as it is not my main TV, just a bedroom TV. Looking at some of Samsungs smarthub ones I can see that getting a <£250 TV that is internet capable is unrealistic right now, maybe in a few years. So now I'll most likely try and see if I can find a TV that is at least capable of doing DLNA so that my phone can stream to it.
