Hi, I have a problem I never came across before.
My main PC is wired to the ethernet port on my ADSL router.
Last night everything was working fine. This morning I couldn't get any internet connection.
I can get a wireless connection to the router and this is how I'm posting this.
But on my main PC it's as if it can't get an IP address from the router.

When I do IPCONFIG it just comes back with 'Windows IP Configuration' and no details.

Please, any suggestions what I can do?

I tried rebooting the router and the PC and also had done a few command line commands to reset things, but to no avail.

I just did NETSH DIAG SHOW ALL and under Network Adapters, there is nothing.
But the network adapter does show in Device Manager...

Well, I am now connected on my main PC via wireless...
Perhaps the network adapter is fried? Would I still be able to ping 127.0.0.1 on my PC if it was not working?
I did a repair install of XP and that didn't help although it passed some of the time away.

I went to a prayer meeting last night, this is true by the way, and in our group sharing and prayer requests I mentioned this problem. Perhaps this had a bearing on what I have found just now when I turned the PC on.

I had a wireless adapter plugged in, and decided to have a look at IPCONFIG because obviously it must have something to display now. And it listed both the wireless adapter and the on-board network adapter. I pulled out the wireless adapter and was still connected to the internet... and it's working again.

AMEN!
