As title,

Been having problems with my internet for the past month, Always had around 7mb but from about a month ago it dropped to around 1.5mb. I phoned BT and spoke to an Asian in the call centre who carried out some line tests and said all was fine, its the router.

Anyway, been using various on-line speed checkers and they are all reporting 1-2 mb max.

Changed the router today because I had had enough, got it all swapped over and it was still the same. Phoned bt who done yet more tests and tell me everything on the line is fine so it must be the router which I know is not the case now as its brand new from the planet.

I have checked all the settings on my PC that I know of and have ran spybot search and destroy but its still the same.

Running Vista Ultimate SP 1
Belkin Router with new cables and filter.

What else can I check Guys, really getting me down.

I have'nt formatted the pc for quite a few months but am hoping I can resolve this without a format...

copied from my router page:
Data Rate Down/Up 7616/448(Kbps)

Actual Speed Test Results
Date 26/02/09 21:49:49
Speed Down 1773.01 Kbps ( 1.7 Mbps )
Speed Up 374.27 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps )
Port 8095
Server speedtest1.thinkbroadband.com

What is going on ??

Thanks In Advance Guys, Regards

Chris

Thanks Guys, Just been on the phone to BT for the past 2 hours and now they tell me I am losing packets between here and the exchange. All this AFTER I formatted my PC lol.

Least now they can hopefully sort it :D
