Currently having some issues with my friends Sony laptop. Both Internet explorer and Firefox are unable to connect to the internet, although at one point i was signed into MSN but still could not access the internet. :(

He has Norton security installed which i have disabled for the moment.

Vista is telling me there are no connection issue's when using the network diagnostics.

I have manually changed the TCP IPv4 settings and entered DNS server address's but this hasn't worked.

I'm not that familiar with Vista so would appreciate any help with this :)

Try disabling IPv6 protocol as this can cause issues. Do they use ICS? Try disabling this too if so. There is a Hotfix for ICS which is not widely available, so if your using it I could send you a link.

had a smilar problem with mine and a netgear 834g router ,had to add dns manually to ipv4

Untick the TCP/IPv6 box

Just to be clear I have seen many machines with Norton and Vista running on the NET very happily.
