oops. i just noticed that our webserver/fileserver/ICS machine in the office is still winxp pro.

so, looking at upgrading the OS. maybe 8.1

anyway, will i need Pro for this? i dont think i would as i share at home and im on home prem on one of my machines.

its just a basic network here, router into the PC and PC out to switch.

i also keep reading that ICS is a bit flaky on windows 8... is this still the case? i need a stable service as its supporting multiple PCs and phones etc.

im hoping win8 will speed up this aging PC a little but in fairness its done pretty well so far and doesnt seem to struggle much.

but then again, would it be simpler to just buy a cheapy machine with win8 included seeing the silly prices of win8 these days.

yes, i know i should go linux but ive never bothered with it that much, plus other need to use this machine occasionally and they struggle enough with windows ;)
