Been with Pipex for years, a couple of years ago i used to connect to Pipex via my Netgear 834G router and it always connected at around 4300 kbps. A few weeks ago i noticed it went down to around 2400 - 2600 kbps. I logged into the router and now i'm only connecting at 1300 kbps. Nothing at all has changed on the internal telephone wiring over this time. Nothing has changed for the Pipex package i have also. I tried unplugging everything from the main socket in the hallway, connected the router only to the master socket and it still only connects at around 1300 kbps. Whats going on here then? I also tried an identical router and it still connects at 1300 kbps. The only things i can think of thats changed is that the telephone calls used to be through BT, it's now on talk talk for calls but i kept Pipex as my ISP. Also i noticed recently that BT seem to have installed an Openzone somewhere nearby as i see a strong signal for it in the wireless networks on my laptop. Could it be that BT is knicking some bandwidth so they can provide the Openzone service?
Its got me stumped to say the least.
