Internet Connection too fast??

Ive noticed my internet speeds seem to have ramped up from around 4.5mb to around 7.0mb over the last few days. That part is good!!
Only problem is the connection seems to lag tremendously during games and internet pages can take a a few seconds to reposnd to clicks
So im thinking the improvement that have been made maybe have something to do with things?
Ive heard people asking to have their speed capped and only assume its for the above reasons??

Interleaving might have been enabled on your line which increases ping times but makes your connection more stable which would explain the higher sync speed.

I doubt it would make your connection lag too much though, contact your ISP.

If you want to get a good idea of your ping times, pop over to http://www.speedtest.net/ and have a look.

if you want a good idea of ping times actually do a ping yourself not use a speed testing site.

Start>command prompt>ping www.google.co.uk

Spoken to my ISP, they said sometimes when my line speed is increased if effects a MTU setting??
They advised me to download DR TCP and set my device that uses the internet (in my case the wireless USB dongle) to MTU 1492.

Does this make any sense to anyone or have they blagged me?
To be fair it does seem a little more reponsive, but games still are not perfect
What did they actually get me to do?
<- not the brightest spark i know im not!! lol

btw to thwe above post my average ping is 49ms to google
edit tried the above about 12 times but did get a couple of time outs along the way, does this mean anything?
