Maybe I'm being to cynical approaching the grand old age of 25. When thats happened to me I've just not bothered with those kind of people. Time goes too quickly to be wasted on people who are hot/cold on/off. I'd never do that to any of my friends.

I'm still a little bitter form the last bunch of nutters I met a year and 3 months ago. :o :D
Finally it seems there are a bunch of fresh faces in my locale

I avoided Pof and got on Match/eHarmony. I found better quality of women on the paid sites... Had quite a few dates but alas, nothing has sparked off. Yet..
 
I've got a 23 year old messaging me. Im 31, I feel like a paedo! :eek: (hes not even that interesting I am just trying to make the effort)

Dont have to be flirting to lead him on. If you're replying to his messages then he's hoping to get to know you better. If you don't find him interesting and have no intention in meeting/dating him then you're probably giving him false hope.

How do you know he's not that interesting though? Unless they are forum socialites like us, or really witty, I fail to see how someone will appear interesting over the internet?

Don't worry it doesn't get easier in your 30s but I guess you just are more open minded/patient/less cynical! Then again I'm a happy-go-lucky sort of person really so for me it's never a waste of time... if you don't try you never know, a little like if you don't ask you don't get. :)

Plus, she's smart, good job, rides horses, snow boards, dual citizenship (canadian) AND attractive. :p

I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket, at minimum, I can do with a friend close by, seeing as my other friends in the same town are all loved up and being hermits.

Just don't build up too much expectation initially - see how it goes. Don't start declaring your undying love when you see her! lol! ;)
 
Raymond, she sounds like a bit of a time waster, so take it nice and easy which will have the added benefit of making you more attractive.

I already had this big gap from the last date so I hold no expectation...actually, I am probably too relax, and act like a friend who isn't interested!
 
No more POF for me. Granted I only gave it a week, but I've managed to find about three people I thought were worth messaging, two of whom didn't reply.
Got plenty of messages from old ladies and beasts.

To be honest I simply can't be bothered. Feels a bit lame actually searching, and seems a bit desperate messaging a random stranger.

Ironically, I'd have happily asked Spy out for a drink if she didn't live so far away, and I met her on here, not POF!

Don't think it's the way to go for me, but good luck with your rods and nets all :)

But without this thread, would you have known that she is single and in fact a she?

You could have locked down your profile so the 'oldies' can't message you?
