Internet dies regularly

It seems like every time i come back to my pc after being away it won't connect to the internet, firefox just shows a blank page and says done, and IE reports page not found

Weird thing is that my downloads continue and msn stays signed in but won't let me send or recieve messages,

I'm on XP and it has only started to happen recently,

Any help would be great, thanks

no, just use my router, still using the same router that i have been using for ages

Is it a laptop by any chance? Not going into suspend or anything daft like that when you leave it is it?

No it is my desktop, like i say it has been fine for months, i did have a winsock error a few days ago though, you think this could cause this?

are you using utorrent or downloading torrent's by any chance. What you have described happens to me when i try to browse the web whilst downloading in utorrent. When i stop the downloads its fine

No i rarely use utorrent, the only way i can fix it is if i reboot my pc,it does it 3-4 times a day now and is really annoying

Manually assign your isp's dns servers to your LAN

where are is your DNS pointing to at the moment, this will be more than likely dealt with on your router with the LAN workstations pointing to the router.

When you lose the internet connection again, open up a command prompt and type:

ping google.com

ping 64.233.167.99

and post the results here.
