In the past ive always used flatget 1.9.

My question is, what is the difference between flashget 1.9 and 3.5, why are there two versions ?

And, are there any better download managers out there or is flashget one of the best.

Thanks.

I've used Free Download Manager for years.

I've always done just fine, there are very few sites nowadays that wont max out your BB connection.

My downloads always max out my connection, but as that's barely north of 1mbit, I find it very useful to throttle/pause/resume downloads that may take hours to finish.

I am a fan of Orbit because it doesn't use much resources, is generally pretty fast and does the job without any hassle. Oh, and adding mirrors to multi source downloads is always useful.

I've been using Flashget 1.9 for a couple of years (i think) and it's been perfect. I've tried all the newer versions and they're naff, they don't even feel official lol.

Hmm, I used to use GetRight for years, before it went commercial in a big, bad way. I then switched to using FlashGet, which was fine.

These days I use nothing because I don't feel I need to any more. When I used GetRight, it was back in the days of dialup, and download managers were the only way to resume interrupted downloads.

As a matter of interest, exactly what use are download managers these days? Am I missing out on some functionality by not using them?

I use Jdownloader for my RS and other direct download needs. It'll happily chew away on hundreds of links with or without RS etc accounts.

Downthemall for Firefox has been my preferred manager for a while now

Same for me. My internet connection is slow and patchy, so being able to pause and resume big downloads really helps me a lot. A few years back, I tried to download a mod that was a few Gb, which was set to take around 9 hours or so, so I left it overnight. Came back the next morning to see it had failed at 89%. Foul words were uttered, I can assure you.
