Internet Explorer always "Stops Working"

Every time I open IE11 (11.0.36) it comes up with error "Internet Explorer has stopped working". I then close the error message and IE "adjusts" itself and carries on working properly.

This is annoying. Windows 10 is up to date - I suspect this is a Microsoft ploy to make me use the dreaded / dreadful "Edge" ?

Anybody else get this please?

Do you have any add-ons installed.

Does it do it if you run Internet Explorer with all add-ons disabled - run 'iexplore.exe -extoff'. If it works fine in this mode then turn your add-ons back on one at a time until you find the one causing it.

I've found Edge to be a pretty decent browser. Certainly better than Internet Explorer. If I wasn't so used to using Google Chrome I'd consider switching to it.

Most likely an add-on issue.

To echo everyone else, Edge is actually a decent browser.

It's not as good as Firefox / Chrome but it handles itself pretty well.

When you re-start IE presumably you do not re-load previous tabs, and issue occurs after a fresh boot ?
Have you tried re-installing IE11 ? although personally had no success with uninstalling it and re-installing from MS patch, I think a fresh OS install is the only way. (I broke an IE11 install after corrupting profile)
when you exit IE11 if there are iexplore processes that do not die this is also an indication of bad add-ons.

( About Edge - lack of a history search mechanism is unforgivable, and have to run IE11 to access its history, but maybe that has been fixed since my win10+edge try-out pre anniversary )

Only Add block not disabled. Still did it.

Seems OK if I run 'iexplore.exe -extoff' - but will test a few more times.

Whoa. Not so sure what is running. When IE loads with "extoff" it says at the bottom add-ons disabled and if I click to look at what's available and enabled there are loads of entries!!! WHO knows what I need!!!

You probably don't need any of them :) Office and other things install pointless addons that most people will never use.
Google the names to check what they are, then disable/remove any you don't need. Hopefully its one of those causing the issue.
