hi

have internet explorer and norton internet security , one of my family members acidently blocked some alert that came up while on the net (something to do with explorer)

know i cant get on the any webpages , its ok when all security is turned off?

can anyone help

cheers

hi, i am not sure that i can help with your problem but id seriously recommend that you get rid of Norton - it is a terrible piece of software! Do you use a router to connect to the internet? If yes, then it probably comes with a built in firewall. This coupled with windows firewall should be an adequate solution. I dont use norton so i cant help with your alert problems and no web access problems but definitely get rid of that awful program first!

The message could have been something like...
Internet Explorer is trying to access the Internet, what do you want to do?
-Allow always
-Allow this instance
-Block

Probably clicked block.

If you double click the Norton icon in the bottom right hand corner, click on "Personal Firewall" from the list of items, then on the right click "Configure" and then click the "Programs" tab, make sure that Internet Explorer has the Internet access to "Permit all"

Sorry but need to point out something here.

NIS 2005and 2006 were bloatware. For the latest version 2007 Symantec listened and learnt.

The cuerrent version uses less than 7 MB of RAM and has done away with 99.
9% of all the pop up messages.

In the course of my work I have and do use most of the Security products available, both home and business.

Norton is a well laid out and (relatively) simple program for the masses to understand, and does not need a lot of configuration/monitoring by said masses.

Other programs are better but may not appeal to the same marketplace.

Re the OP problem which version are you running?
