Internet Explorer Not working?

Hi there,

I have a problem with my internet explorer.

When I open it, it doesn't do anything and just shows a blank page even if i try to go to a website, it just doesn't work?

I can view the internet perfectly in firefox and opera.

What is wrong with internet explorer.

It can view local pages fine.

I tried upgrading to IE7 beta 3 but that didn't help.

What should i try?

Does IE just show a 'Page cannot be displayed'?

Nope, just a white page

Update to Internet Explorer 7. Its excellent

Course it checks to see that you have a genuine copy of XP

Have you tried accessing websites by entering a variety of URLs? To get to Google, for example, try all of the following:

- www.google.com/
- http://www.google.com/
- google.com/
- 66.102.7.99
- http://66.102.7.99/

If any of those work it might help pinpoint the problem. As an additional note, are you sure you are not working in offline mode (File >> Work Offline)? Have you run a malware/virus scan recently? Do you practice yoga often? Have you tried rebooting?

How to reinstall IE

1.Insert the Win XP CD

2.Open Start / Run and type:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

IT will now ask for file location, it is located on the cd in the 13## folder. not sure of the exact number but it will locate the file while in there.

Not used myself and am dubious!

Check for a peice of spy-ware called About:Blank. I think Adware-Away removes it.

I already have, and shouldn't have to anyways. This was from a clean install i had this problem, I had to download firefox on a different pc and transfer it to this one via usb stick to get internet.

Still haven't sorted this out.

When I tried the extension that views the page from IE in firefox i get the same problem.

I have found the problem.

Its to do with this process here:

I just disabled it and it works.

MDM is one of those things I usually disable after a reinstall of windows.
