Help guys.

Not sure what the hell is going on.

Started first on the tablet. Then the wife's mobile and then mine.
Were getting no internet access. If I sign into my modem it says "No Internet access" however changing tabs I can surf on the laptop without issues. I'm even typing this on the laptop.

We have over the last few days been getting some popups all of a sudden on phones, tablet, and my desktop. but not the laptop.

Looks like something has managed to get onto our devices.

Both samsung GS4's are having issues and they are telling us that our internet is unstable

Where so I start

Thanks

Do you leave your router on all the time?

Tried the obvious switching it off count to ten then switch on again? :)

Do you have a spare router to test with?

What router is it?

I think i've been having 2 separate issues. Chrome on my desktop, My phone the wife's phone and the tablet have recently started having pop up issues I can click the new posts tab on this forum and a ad popup will open in a new tab for FLV player or betfair or other.

This looks like its been sorted on the mobile devices by uninstalling updates and going back to default app. Not sorted that on desktop yet. Will do a uninstall.

The internet has now come back on. (It may have been a virginmedia issue that the laptop wasn't as sensitive to.)

Panic did set in though as they seem to be failing one after another. I'm going to play around and see

I have also just updated the firmware of the router. modem is superhub with router turned off

UPDATE:

Ok something strange is going on.

Our internet access just went off ( looks like router poss reboot. Checked logs but they only go back 4 mins)

When it came back on were now getting the popups back

Did you install any addins into chrome by any chance?

I had a similar issue where every so often I would click on a webpage (battlelog for instance) and it would open a new tab for SkyBet.

Drove me crazy trying to figure out what was going on, turns out one of the addins had "support us" at the bottom of the config page and was making it push ads to me, unticked and now no longer happening.

Thats exactly what is happening. However its not Chrome...Or its not just chrome. Its happening on my Galaxy s4 using the std browser. Even after disabling Chrome.

It must be something that's happened after an update. And poss linked to chrome. As its NOT doing it on the wife's laptop But is on my desktop (although not seen it since uninstalling chrome) it is on my SGS4 and the wife's SGS4 and out Sony tablet.

I will try and hunt down anything that says "Support us"

Cheers
Matt

Can you log into your router and see what DNS servers it is pointing at? It sounds like your router may have been compromised and the DNS servers changed.

Ok

I can get full access to the router but don't know what I'm looking for Ie:If theyve been changed I wouldn't know as I don't know what they should be.

Its NOT happening on the laptop at all. which is strange.

When it happens on the android devices and my desktop. It opens a new window with a URL saying "Adcash" before being quickly directed to an Ad.

I've done a search for Adcash and looks like hijack or virus. However avast and avg don't spot it on the android devices. If its that how do I remove

Thanks

Who are these guys and why are they trying to access my router

Update:

Looks like somehow my DNS settings had been changed.

I have changed these back to what Virgin list as standard and have since had no issues. Well no issues after clearing all browser settings too

Called it! :p

Did you make a note of them?
Did your router have an admin password set before you changed the password on the 15th?

I did have an admin password I have now changed it to an 18 digit code.

No I didn't make a note of them but one started 65.*.*.* and the other 6.*

Not sure how/what/who/why they were changed though.

I thought it had to be the router as we were getting it all of a sudden across 4 devices.
