Internet fears

Don't until he\she is a teenager - for obvious reasons. If your child is young don't let them have any social networking access. Other than that let them be free.

I won't when they are old enough, it will be locked down enough for me not to worry.
As they get older they will be taught responsibility and know that I can see everything if I want to :)

Do you not think it would be better to be upfront with them? Tell them your worries, treat them with some respect if you expect them to respect your wishes/rules?

My parents didn't teach me jack - no idea about computers at all, even today.
As a kid I watched loads of porn and taught myself judgement :)

I'm not a parent so I don't really know if this would work but...
I would begin by talking to my kids about issues, learn through debate!

I'd want to kill two birds with one stone on this and make my kids feel like they could come to me with their problems.
That way I can stay informed and make better judgements on my parenting.

Just curious. How do you teach these and how did your parents teach you these?

:)

No they didn't, they had no idea about computers.

How would I? By using the internet with them as they grow up, show them what is acceptable. Stray from what is ok and they will lose out.

My eldest child is 4. She can't even use a mouse properly, the lameass.

My boy can turn the lappy on, get on either cbeebies, nickjr or youtube and search for what he wants!
He's only 5 now, so it's scary what he could be doing in a few years lol
